This 7.62x51mm ammunition is the response to one of the tougher requirements that has come their way.
The need was for a 7.62 round that was extremely effective on target, plus defeating barriers, while at the same time minimizing the possibility of collateral damage through overpenetration on targets in the open.
The result of development was a 110-grain round at 3,000 fps from a short 16” barrel that expands immediately upon impact to form a would cavity over 6” in diameter but stop within 20” of 10% ballistic gelatin, plus perform the same when fired through a glass windshield with minimal deflection and over 90% weight retention.
This performance meets the needs of law enforcement for an effective 7.62 round, capable in a wide range of scenarios. The same performance makes it a great light recoil hunting round.

Note: This ammunition is also within safe industry pressures for .308 Winchester ammunition, however, 7.62×51 primers have thicker primer cups and may not be compatible with some commercial .308 firearms.

The M1200 cartridge 6.5 Creedmoor is the designated ammunition for the US military’s MRGG-S (Mid-Range Gas gun program-Sniper) weapons system. Black Hills Ammunition has been a primary source of this ammunition. Black Hills has worked for years perfecting the 6.5 Creedmoor 140 grain OTM to the fullest possible accuracy and reliability capability specifically for use in AR-10 type platforms such as the Geissele, Knight’s, LaRue and LMT precision semi-automatic rifles.
The Black Hills M1200-C (Commercial) version features a 140-grain OTM projectile loaded to 2750 fps from a 22” barrel. The match primers are staked securely in the primer pocket to ensure flawless performance during suppressed semi-auto fire. The propellant is selected for temperature stability to ensure reliability and avoid velocity variation in extreme environments.
