Springfield Armory is having an extremely busy fall. Hot on the heels of announcing the new Hellcat pistol in .380 ACP, Springfield has now announced the release of new Model 2020 Heatseeker bolt-action precision chassis rifles with longer barrels: .308 Win with a 20-inch barrel and 6.5 Creemoor in 20-inch and 22-inch models.
The Model 2020 Heatseeker, a chassis-based rifle crafted for shooters who demand bolt=action precision and AR-style modularity, was introduced earlier in 2025 with a 16-inch barrel only.

The Details
The new Springfield Model 2020 Heatseeker is a chassis-based rifle “crafted for shooters who demand bolt-action precision and AR-style modularity in one uncompromising platform.”
Built on Springfield’s custom-grade Model 2020 action with dual locking lugs, a fluted bolt, and EDM raceways, it delivers surgical accuracy with a .75 MOA guarantee.
Housed in the Sharps Bros. Heatseeker Chassis with a B5 Systems Collapsible Precision Stock and P-23 pistol grip, it offers additional versatility and ergonomic control. The B5 Systems Collapsible Precision Stock (CPS) is adjustable for both length of pull and cheek height. It also comes with a matching CPS adjustable cheek piece.
Finished in rugged Coyote Brown Cerakote and equipped with a Triggertech Field Trigger, the Heatseeker chambered in .308 or 6.5 Creedmoor is ready for chasing game or stacking rounds on target.
In addition, the chassis is designed with AR-style features for maximum modularity. It’s outfitted with a buffer tube extension for mounting AR-pattern stocks and is designed to accept AR-pattern pistol grips.
The heart of the Heatseeker is the Model 2020 action, precision manufactured from premium materials. It features dual locking lugs on a fluted bolt that runs smoothly down EDM raceways for perfect, repeatable engagement. In addition, an optimized extraction cam provides robust, reliable operation in any condition.
A detachable Remington 700 pattern pic rail is mounted to the action and houses two recoil pins.
A heavy-duty rifle case is included with each Model 2020 Heatseeker. Its padded foam shell, adjustable interior Velcro straps and muzzle protector ensure the rifle and any mounted optics are protected during transportation.
