The Kimber 2K11 Comp 9mm is the latest evolution of Kimber’s double-stack 2011 platform, designed to improve controllability and performance over the original 2K11 series. The key defining feature of the Comp models is the integrated compensator machined into the barrel and slide.
These cuts direct expanding gases upward to significantly reduce muzzle flip and felt recoil, making fast follow-up shots more manageable and the gun more pleasant to shoot at speed than the non-compensated versions.
Kimber offers the 2K11 Comp in four variants — full-size 5-inch and Pro-size 4.25-inch barrels, each available in stainless or black finishes. Full-size models ship with one 17-round and two 20-round magazines, while the Pro models include two 19-rounders. All come with RMR optic adapter plates and, on select models, Stan Chen Customs magwells.
Build quality and ergonomics are strong points. The pistol features a 5R rifled bull barrel with deep crown, aggressive slide serrations, and an under-barrel Picatinny rail for lights or lasers. Controls include an ambidextrous safety, a standard 1911-style grip safety, and a flat-faced trigger that broke at roughly 2 pounds, 4 ounces on the test gun — excellent for competition or precision shooting.
Ergonomically, the carbon fiber and glass matrix grip module provided a comfortable and improved grip through extended shooting. Its weight (35.6 ounces empty) and size mean it isn’t ideal for concealed carry, but it excels as a competition or home-defense handgun.
Priced around $2,300, the 2K11 Comp positions itself as a high-end, custom-level 9 mm double-stack 1911 with performance to match.
